Doctrine

Our Doctrine

We believe in the Apostolic doctrine, which is the same doctrine as Jesus and the apostles. The Light of the World Pentecostal Church is a Bible believing, God fearing, holy living church that believes in every Word of God. We believe all scripture is infallible, and believe that it is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. We believe that Jesus Christ is God, and that He is the only Savior who can bring man back unto Himself. We believe in receiving the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues as stated in Acts 2:4. We baptize in the Name of Jesus Christ, believe in separating ourselves from sin, and living a holy, separated, sin-free life according to scripture.

Salvation:

The Bible lets us know that we all were born in sin because of the sin of the first man Adam. Total fellowship with God was lost.

God was made flesh and was manifested unto the world as the Son of God in the person of Jesus Christ to save us from our sins, and to bring us back into fellowship with himself. His death, burial, and resurrection secured our salvation and gives us victory over sin itself. Faith and total obedience to Him and His Word promises us Eternal Life.

We must repent, be baptized, and be filled with the Holy Ghost according to Acts 2:38.
Afterwards, we must rise in the newness of life, and follow after true holiness, forsake sin and the world, live holy, and obey God completely.

The Salvation message is all about a savior who came from heaven to earth to seek and save a lost world. Every man, woman, boy, and girl must come to receive the message of salvation for himself. Without receiving Christ, the only Savior, we would be lost for eternity in hell. Praise God for a Savior in Jesus Christ! Remember, heaven is our goal and salvation will get us there.

The Plan of Salvation:

Acts 2:38 "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

GOD:

The word of the Lord tells us in John 1:1, "In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God."

We believe that there is only one true God who created the heavens and the earth and everything in them. One God who predestinated and foreordained all things and is the reason why all living creatures exist and multiply today.

God is eternal omnipotent and omnipresent. He is the beginning and the ending, the Father of all creation who by the counsel of his own will made man in his image and in his likeness. God is sovereign, the absolute Ruler with all power and authority in heaven and on earth.

His word is the blueprint for all life; and if we follow his word we will without fail attain unto the righteous and Holy fulfillment and prosperity in our lives that he has foreordained from the foundation of the world.

Jesus:

Jesus was God manifested in the flesh as the Son of God. Who became a sacrifice, that mankind through him might be saved from their sins. He died that all come unto him, would be dead indeed to sin. He also took away the sin of the world. He rose again, that all that come unto him, through him would walk in the newness of life. Jesus came that we might have a more abundant life, even eternal life.
After Jesus had finished all the triumphant work he needed to do to save man from sin, he became a quickening spirit. Thus, becoming the Savior of the World. We can only be saved from sin by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, which is the Holy Ghost, even the Spirit of Truth.

St. John 3:16 " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

St. John 7:.38-39 "He that believeth on me as the scripture hath saith, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Acts 2:38 "...Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

We believe that Jesus, God, and the Holy Ghost are one. Our faith and beliefs are based upon the inspired, holy, living word of God. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine. 1 Timothy 3:16

We believe that Jesus proceeded and came forth from God, through a virgin named Mary who was overshadowed by the Holy Ghost causing her to conceive and bring forth our Lord and Savior. We believe Jesus was sent into the world to redeem mankind back

to himself. In doing so, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus had to take place. The word of God clearly states that: "In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. The word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as the only begotten of the father, full of grace and truth." St. John 1:14

When Philip said to Jesus, show us the father, Jesus said have I been so long time with you and yet hast thou not known me Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen the father, letting him know that Jesus is the father, which is God. He also said that I and my father are one, I in the father and the father in me. Jesus told his disciples that the comforter which is the Holy Ghost, whom the father will send in my name shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I have said unto you. Letting us know that he is the Holy Ghost. Jesus declared that Lo I come in the volume of the book, for it is written of me. We believe that in the end time Jesus will return for those that have made themselves ready for his second coming. Revelation 19:7

The Holy Ghost:

Be not deceived, God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are one. With this oneness we are complete. Jesus said in John 14:16-18, "that he (God) shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever. I (Jesus) will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. "That comforter, that Jesus spoke of is the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is the spirit of God that he gives to them that obey him.

We believe in receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the spirit give utterance, (Acts 2:4) therefore being justified by faith and belief in Gods Word.

Jesus declared that we must be born again. The water baptism and infilling of the Holy Ghost, represent the spiritual death in our lives to sin and the new birth into the kingdom of God. (St. John 3:3) The new birth signifies a clean heart and pure conscience toward God.

We believe that God ordained and intended for humanity, which is his creation to be holy and live holy. (Leviticus 20:7)

Jesus came to be the sacrifice for the world's sin, opening the door for us to receive atonement, which is to be reconciled with God. For the Lord is not willing that any man should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9) We do bare witness that the word which was spoken by Jesus to the apostles is true, he stated that "we shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon us." That power consists of spiritual and natural healing, casting out devils, and the power to resist the temptations presented before us.

We believe the Holy Ghost gives us the ability not to accept the dominating force of lust that is currently overtaking so many people in the world today. (Ephesians 6:12) Moreover, the Holy Ghost gives us the power over sin, to live a sin free life, be holy, and live a life of Holiness.

You can receive the Holy Ghost by obeying Act 2:38 which is the plan of salvation. "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Your sins must be removed before the Holy Ghost can dwell in you. So, except you be born of the water and the spirit (Holy Ghost), you cannot enter into the kingdom of God (John 3:5). Being filled with the Holy Ghost, which is the spirit of Jesus Christ, the gift of God is what saves us from sin and hell. Praise the Lord!

Baptism:

To be baptized means to be totally immersed or covered in something. We believe in water baptism in Jesus name according to Scripture. (Acts 10:47-48) Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

We also believe in spiritual baptism of repentance, which washes away, cleanses and removes your sins. (Acts 2:38) "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost. (Matthew 3:11) I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire. The scripture in Acts 2:16-17 proclaims this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
"AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS IN THE LAST DAYS, SAITH GOD, I WILL POUR OUT OF MY SPIRIT UPON ALL FLESH:"
We do believe in the spiritual baptism of the Word of God. (Matthew
28:19) Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Therefore we teach and preach Jesus, the Father, Jesus, the Son and Jesus, the Holy Ghost. These three are one. With this oneness we are complete in God.

Healing:

"And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease." Matthew 10:1

As the word of God states in Matthew 10:1 at The Light of the World Pentecostal Church we believe in the power to heal the sick and the diseased of their ailments through the Holy Ghost, faith, and prayer.  As Jesus and the twelve disciples, who are our examples, went about healing the sick and the lame and casting out devils we believe that man can receive complete healing and deliverance from any ailment or possession by the power of the Holy Ghost through prayer and the spoken word of God.

From the time The Light of the World Pentecostal Church was founded in the 1960's until now God has performed numerous miracles of healing.  Through the prayers of our founder Bishop Veomia B. Samuels and Overseer Patricia R. Penigar, God has lengthened limbs, healed broken bones, restored the ability to walk, restored sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf, healed the sick, raised the dead, and cast out devils.  Below are a few testimonies of miraculous healing that God has performed at The Light of the World Pentecostal Church:

Lengthened Limbs

A young boy was born with one leg shorter than the other and was told by doctors, as a young boy, that his leg wasn't going to grow and that he would have to wear a lift in his shoe for the rest of his life.  After prayers from Overseer Penigar God performed a miracle of healing and caused the shorter leg to grow to the same length as the other leg.  He is now 25 years old and is able to walk without any problems and preach the Gospel.  Thank you Jesus!

Broken Bones Healed

A teenager broke one of her fingers playing a ball game.  She testified that her mother brought her to Bishop Samuels and asked for prayer.  While Bishop Samuels prayed for her, she could feel the bone in her finger go back into place and the swelling went down.  Her broken finger was healed!

Restored Ability to Walk

Back in the 1990's the mother of our church, who was in her 70's at the time, woke up one morning and realized that she had lost her ability to walk due to rheumatoid arthritis.  She  begin using a wheelchair, she had lost her ability to place one foot before the other. She went to the doctor he told her that she would never be able to walk again.

Our Overseer and the church began to pray and travail for her and the Lord worked a miracle of healing in her body. She regained her ability to walk with her cane and later was able to walk without the cane!  Hallelujah!

Restored site to the blind

A member at our church had a baby boy that was born blind.  The baby could not see and was non-responsive to objects placed in his field of vision or light.  Overseer Penigar prayed the prayer of faith over the baby and he received his sight!  He is now a teenager with good vision.

The Dead Raised

One evening at a prayer meeting service a young man passed out without warning and died.  He was not breathing and had no pulse.  Overseer Penigar was not present at the time but was called and advised of the situation.  Overseer Penigar began to pray along with the saints and asked that the phone be placed at the young man's ear.  She spoke life into the young man through the telephone, he coughed and was revived!  God is an awesome God!

These are just a few miracles of healing that we have seen the Lord perform through the prayers of our Founder, our Overseer, and the saints of God.  We invite you to come out and experience the true healing power of God at The Light of the World Pentecostal Church!  God has healing for your body and your soul all you have to do is believe!

Christianity:

Being a Christian means to be Christ-like (like Christ).

Salvation is deliverance and freedom from sin and from the penalties of sin; also known as redemption and liberation from sin. Salvation is the first step in a Christian's life.

In order for Salvation to take place in a person's soul we believe you must first be willing to give up and obey the scripture in Acts 2:38 which states, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission (removal) of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Spirit of God).

We also believe that unless a man (the human race) be born again of the water and of the spirit (Holy Ghost) he cannot enter into the kingdom of God (Heaven) - St. John 3:3
Once a person is freed from sin by receiving salvation (Holy Ghost) that person is fully and completely delivered, and is no longer under the law of sin and death or bound by sin, and therefore have power over sin. Acts 1:8 states, But ye shall receive power (over sin) after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you. Moreover, a Christian is a new creature and has the power to be holy. Leviticus 19:2 says, "Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy."

Many believe that you can be a Christian and live any kind of life and do whatever you want. In reality in order to be a "true" Christian, you must live a sin-free life - meaning, abstaining from sin and everything contrary to the word of God.

St. Matthew 6:24 states - No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. A true Christian must live a life of holiness.

Hebrews

12:14 states, "and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord."

Living a Christian life means that your lifestyle, your walk, your talk, your appearance and your actions are totally changed according to the word of God. You cannot live a life of sin and be a Christian as well.

2 Corinthians 6:14 says, Be ye not unequally yoked together with
unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with
unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

2 Corinthians 6:17 also says, Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

Ministry:

Our ultimate goal is saving as many souls as possible in this hour. For every person at every age level we offer a wealth of opportunities special programs and ministries for children, youth and adults which fill the church calendar. You can be sure that in this collection of activities, there's more that one place where you can be personally enriched.

Just as Jesus Christ came "not to be ministered unto, but to minister", we accept our responsibility to reach out in service to others. This applies both within the church family and outside our fellowship.

Leadership:

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-12

The word of God says in Jeremiah 3:15, "And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding." At The Light of the World Pentecostal Church we believe that all true Pastors, Bishops, Apostles are chosen by God and not by man. Moreover God gives them to his people for spiritual guidance and instruction. They are required to live Holy lives according to God's word, lead by example, and may be male or female because God is no respect of persons.

Leadership preaches and teaches God's word and provides the people of God with Wisdom and knowledge of the word of God and increased understanding of that knowledge. As the word of God says in Ephesians the 4th chapter leaders of the church are God-given for the perfecting of the saints, the work of the ministry, and for the edifying of the body of Christ. True leaders of God are valuable and essential to the people of God and the Kingdom of God and should be given the highest honor and respect because they are commissioned by God with such a great responsibility to lead and provide direction to His people.
